Winneba-Charlottesville Sister Cities support three organisations in Effutu

Winneba (C/R), July 14, GNA – The Winneba Charlottesville Sister Cities
have donated items worth 85,000 dollars to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital,
Central Regional Community Nursing College, and the Effutu Adansi Football Club
in Winneba.

The items are orthopedic consumables including walkers and clutches,
sports wears and nursing books and were donated through the Effutu Municipal

At the presentation ceremony held at the forecourt of the Trauma and
Specialist Hospital in Winneba, Nana Acheampong Ghartey, the President of the
Winneba-Charlottesville Sister Cities Commission, said the donation came about
as result of a Memorandum of Understanding between Charlottesville in the USA
and Winneba in the Central Region eight years ago.

Nana Ghartey said they had been supportive to institutions in the area
including Effutu Municipal Government Hospital now the Central Regional
Hospital, University of Education Clinic, Winneba,  Effutu Directorate of the Ghana Fire and
Ghana Education Services, Ghana Police Command and Staff College in Winneba,
and widows and caretakers of orphans in the area.

He said they had established a Foundation Fund to construct an
ultra-modern library in the Winneba Township and sponsor people from the
municipality to Charlottesville for exchange programmes for knowledge and
skills acquisition to help make Effutuman a place of choice to live in.

Mr John B. Ninsin, the Effutu Municipal Chief Executive, who presented
the items, expressed appreciation to the donors and urged them to continue to
help in the development of the area.

Dr George Prah, the Medical Director of Trauma and Specialist Hospital,
Madam Olivia C. Bennie, the Vice Principal of the Central Regional Community
Nursing College, and Mr Abraham Henry Arthur, the Manager of Adansi Football
Club, who jointly received the items, assured the donors that they would use
them for the intended purposes.

They called on cooperate bodies and non-governmental and benevolent
organisations to emulate the gesture of the Twin Cities and help in the  development of the area.
