But if the worst happens, will they get in the Europa League? Here is all you need to know.

What do Celtic need to do to qualify for the Champions League?

Celtic must overcome Rosenborg tonight and then win one further qualifier in the play-off round to reach the group stage.

If they beat the Norwegians, they are likely to be seeded for the draw which will pit them against the champions of one of Europe’s lower ranked nations.

Will Celtic qualify for the Europa League if they lose to Rosenborg?

Yes. Celtic will enter the Europa League play-off round if the worst happens in Norway.

The only way they would have failed to enter the Europa League this summer is if they had lost to Linfield in the previous round.

The Northern Irish side’s 6-0 loss on aggregate to the Bhoys saw them eliminated from all further European competition this season.

And if they make it to the Champions League group stage, they will enter the Europa League last 32 in February by finishing third in their group.

A first or second place finish will see Brendan Rodgers side enter the Champions League last 16 while a fourth place finish will knock them out of Europe.
