Who is Scott McTominay? Manchester United starlet profiled ahead of Crystal Palace clash

SCOTT McTOMINAY made his Manchester United debut in the final-day win over Crystal Palace.

The giant midfielder, 20, first caught the eye of Old Trafford scouts aged five.

He was rotated in the No10 slot with Marcus Rashfordwho starts today – in the Under-16s.

But after a growth spurt to him to 6ft 4ins he has dropped into a deeper role to make use of his frame

And United’s website insists ex-Reserves boss Warren Joyce and McTominay believe his future is as a box-to-box midfielder.


Joyce said: “He’s a really good footballer. Technically sound with good skills and excellent in the keep-ball sessions.

“Scott has just burst onto the scene. He could be a proper box-to-box aggressive midfielder and we need to be mindful of that.”

Despite being born in Lancaster, Scott looks likely to play for Scotland in the future due to his heritage.

He has already trained with the country’s youth sides and revealed: “I’m probably more Scottish than I am English.”

Versatile McTominay can also operate as a centre-forward and while being something of a late bloomer United are clearly excited about his future.
