A TRAGIC teen found dead on railway tracks following a night out was passed by five trains before her body was discovered.

But her body was tragically discovered at around 6.45am the next morning on railway tracks.

Five trains travelling to London had already passed through Herne Bay that morning on opposite sides of the track.

It was only when the first Thanet service of the morning pulled into the station that the teen was found and the alarm raised.

The power to the line was shut off and all trains cancelled as emergency crews were scrambled to the station.

Taiyah-Grace was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

It is thought she was electrocuted by a live rail yards from the platform, but the cause of her death has not yet been confirmed.

A mural was painted to the teen in nearby Margate by local artists, and a fundraising page in her memory has already raised more than £1,300.

But DCI Paul Langley, of British Transport Police, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of this young girl as they try to come to terms with this awful news.

“We have deployed specially trained officers to the family to provide them with support.

“Understandably the family are now desperate for answers and my officers are focused on understanding how this girl came to be on the tracks.

“What we know so far is that the girl was with a group of friends near the station shortly before 11pm on Tuesday evening.

“Sometime between then and 7am the following morning she came to receive these injuries.

“Therefore, I would be looking to speak with anyone who might have been near to Herne Bay station during this period.

“If you were in the area or have any information, no matter how small, please do get in touch as soon as possible.

“Your information might prove vital in our enquiries.”
