Tottenham target Davinson Sanchez refused to travel with Ajax to season opener as £35million move gets closer

TOTTENHAM target Davinson Sanchez has gone on strike – refusing to board the Ajax bus for their opening game of the season.

The 21-year-old’s antics will not have gone down well with the Spurs hierarchy who are close to landing the defender in a £35million deal.

Last year’s Europa League finalists lost 2-1 at Heracles – without the big defender who is holding out for a move to North London.

Sanchez joined Ajax from Atletico National last summer for £4m on a five-year contract, and his standout performances have caught the eye of Europe’s elite.

The Dutch giants are doing everthing possible to keep Sanchez who has only been in Holland for a year.

And Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars has said: “Ajax have made Davinson a top offer for a new contract.”

Despite what Overmars has said, Ajax are resigned to losing the defender who looks set to follow his former team-mate Davy Klaassen to England.

Klassen joined Everton and made his Premier League bow in the win against Stoke at Goodison Park.
