The 200-strong Granite City travelling fans were staying in the Mostar area prior to their side’s Europa League game in nearby Siroki Brijeg.

At around 11.15 local time a gang of around a dozen locals wearing masks and balaclavas cornered Dons fans who were drinking in the bar in the heart of the city’s Old Town.

They fired flares into the crowds of fans drinking on a scenic terrace outside the bar.

Terrified fans and locals ran for cover as the local hooligans waded through the crowd, flailing metal poles at the Dons supporters.

The cobblestone streets outside the bar added to the chaos, with fans fleeing the terror slipping on the uneven surfaces.

Around 50 Dons fans were caught up in the mayhem and several were taken to local hospitals with cuts and bruises.

Local cops blamed ultra supporters from Mostar side Zdrinski Mostar who claimed the bar as their territory.
