Swansea official hints Gylfi Sigurdsson’s switch to Everton is all but complete on social media

SWANSEA’S vice chairman Leigh Dineen dropped a major hint to supporters on Twitter that Gylfi Sigurdsson’s switch to Everton is on the verge of being completed.

Dineen was responding to fans’ question last night and he reminded supporters that the club have previously coped with key players leaving the Liberty Stadium.

He tweeted: “For the last 13 years our club has built teams that can compete or move forward. We sell and we buy. No reason to worry that this will change.”

Before retweeting a fan’s message, which read: “Look, if a player wants to go, his contract isn’t worth the paper it’s written on, no good blaming Leigh or the board, Gylfi wants out.”

It was previously reported Everton were preparing an improved £32million bid for the attacking midfielder.

The Toffees are already thought to have had an initial bid of £25m turned down.

The Swans are reluctant to lose the 27-year-old but it appears as though they have come to terms with losing him.

Despite landing Wayne Rooney from Man Utd, Ronald Koeman’s summer spending will continue with Romelu Lukaku on the verge of joining the Red Devils.

It is believed Swansea’s man is swaying towards a move to Everton, rather than Leicester, who are also interested.

Sigurdsson was the second-highest assist maker in the Premier League last season, despite his side struggling to beat the drop.

He also netted nine goals for Paul Clement’s side last season and is known for his qualities from dead-ball situations.
