Swansea insist they will not be ‘bullied’ into selling star man Gylfi Sigurdsson with Everton lining up new bid

SWANSEA renewed their vow NOT to be “bullied” into selling star man Gylfi Sigurdsson.

SunSport revealed on Tuesday that the Swans refused to be backed into a corner over the 27-year-old Icelandic playmaker.

And they have turned down a £40million bid by ambitious Everton and are holding out for £50m.

Sigurdsson dropped out of the Swans’ ten-day tour to the US on Thursday morning just hours before the squad’s departure.

The club have revealed Sigurdsson was not in “the right frame of mind to travel” with so much speculation over his future.

Now Swansea owners Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien have said in a statement: “We’ve not received an offer which represents a fair valuation of Gylfi given his importance to us.

“We will not be bullied into a decision until a club meets our valuation of the player, no matter whether they believe they have an agreement with the player.

“Any such agreement would obviously be in contravention of Premier League legislation.”

Meanwhile Swansea could lose defender Kyle Bartley to Stoke or Crystal Palace.

The 26-year-old, who has one year left on his contract at the Liberty Stadium, is also wanted by Garry Monk at Middlesbrough but has Premier League interest.
