RICH hotrod drivers causing a nuisance near top store Harrods face a police crackdown.

They can be fined £1,000 for revving engines, accelerating quickly, doing stunts and other offences.

Signs have gone up in Kensington and Chelsea, including on a street behind the store.

Cllr Tim Ahern said: “It’s also a residential area.

“We’ve tried to combat antisocial driving for some time.”

The order is enforced between noon and 6am and fines can be issued by council officers or the police.

Anyone breaching the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) will face a fines between £100 and £1,000 for each offence[/caption]

Three motorists have been prosecuted so far — two over acceleration and one for loud music.

A spokesman for Kensington and Chelsea council said: “Anyone found breaching the Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) will face a fine of between £100 and £1,000 for each offence.”
