They then sing a song which translates to: “Timo Werner is a son of a b****!”

Three cops are seen in the clip and at least one is armed with a police baton.

Werner, 21, played in Leipzig’s 2-0 loss at Schalke on the weekend.

The former Stuttgart forward is an unpopular character in Schalke after coming under fire for diving against the Bundesliga side in December.

Leipzig were awarded a penalty and consequently won the match 2-1.

It has not yet been confirmed whether the men shown in the clip are police officers.

“We will undergo the operation of a service regulatory investigation and have the Board of Directors informed.”

Werner apologised for diving and even claimed he told officials he was in the wrong at the time.

He said: “All I can do is repeat what I said yesterday, that [Schalke defender] Naldo disrupted my run and therefore I lost control, which everybody could see.

“Of course it then not only looks like a dive, but it is one – full stop. If Ralf Fahrmann doesn’t touch me, which I have always stated, then what else can it be?

“Up until when the referee showed Fahrmann the yellow card, I thought he had given it for Naldo’s obstruction and that is why the referee had given the penalty.

“The Schalke players have confirmed that I told the referee that Fahrmann had not touched me so there is no more for me to say about it, other than that it was a bad thing for me to do and I’m sorry.”
