Winneba (C/R) July 31,
GNA – Mr Martin Yaw Annor, the Chairman of Winneba Vocational Training
Institute, Parent Teacher Association (PTA), has appealed to the government to
invest more in vocational education for the youth.

He said the youth
needed such training to serve as the future manpower development to them.

Mr Annor made the
appeal at a handing over ceremony of a car and a number of metal tables and
chairs by the PTA to the Management of the Institute held at forecourt of the
School at Winneba.

The ceremony was on
the theme: “Vocational Education is the actual solution to unemployment in
Ghana.”

He said investing and
creating a conducive environment for vocational training would help the youth
acquire vocational skills and knowledge to establish their own business instead
of migrating to the urban centres to seek for non-existing white collar jobs.

Mr Annor said the
donation was to help in the smooth running of the school.

He announced that, the
PTA would construct a hostel for the school to encourage more enrolment.

Mr Erasmus K. Sam, the
Manager of the School, who received the items expressed appreciation to the
PTA.

He suggested the need
for the government to make vocational training its number one priority by
improving upon the infrastructure on campus.
