Progres Niedercorn vs Rangers: When is the Europa League clash and where can I watch the Gers’ first European away trip in six years?

RANGERS travel to Luxembourg looking to defend a slender 1-0 lead against Progres Niedercorn.

The first leg at Ibrox didn’t quite go to plan as the Gers could only net once, through Kenny Miller, leaving the minnows in with a chance.

Who are Progres Niedercorn?

Progres Niedercorn have been champions of Luxembourg three times, in 1953, 1978 and 1981.

The most exciting event in the club’s history was earning the privilege of playing Real Madrid in 1978, when they lost 12-0 on aggregate.

Progres have never won a European tie and were beaten 3-0 on aggregate by Shamrock Rovers in their last campaign in 2015.

Their most notable player, particularly among Scottish fans, is former Hearts and Kilmarnock defender Ismael Bouzid.

The club qualified for the Europa League by finishing fourth in the Luxembourg National Division, 21 points behind champions Dundelange.

And many may note that it is a sign of how far Scottish football has fallen that Luxembourg now has the same number of European qualification spots as Scotland.
