Police hunt robbers who stole Ȼ100,000 in broad day light

robberThe Ashanti Region Police Command has launched a region wide hunt for four men who stole Ȼ100,000 belonging to a small scale miner.

Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor followed the story and reports that the miner had brokered a deal with the suspects to buy an excavator at Manso Akwesiso in the Ashanti region at the price of Ȼ 100,000.

They also agreed to drive to Kumasi to deposit the amount into a bank account after which the excavator will be made available.

However, minutes after entering the bank, eyewitnesses saw the four men exit the bank and sped off in a black Toyota Camry salon car with registration number GR 6349-15.

An eyewitness told Erastus that the robbers could not get away with the money due to heavy traffic.

It was later realized that they crashed into an Opel taxi cab and the driver chased them until they abandoned the vehicle in front of the Health Services facilities at Adum and fled.

“I was in traffic at the museum area and they crashed into my vehicle from the back but did not stop so I chased them and at a point I saw them park the vehicle, take someone out before they jumped the wall”, the taxi driver told Erastus.

They managed to get away with Ȼ65,000 of the cash leaving the rest in the car.

The miner declined to speak to Erastus but the police have towed the vehicle and have begun investigations into the incident.
