Pixie Lott breaks down in tears on The Voice Kids during emotional battle round

PIXIE Lott broke down in tears during an emotional performance by three hopefuls on The Voice Kids tonight.

The trio of contestants – Riccardo, Tabi and Erin C – gave a powerful rendition of Somewhere Over The Rainbow from The Wizard Of Oz, and Pixie couldn’t quite keep it together.

The 26-year-old pop star was rooting for her own act Erin C to perform best in the sing-off, which saw the three kids share lines in the famous song.

But it seems her competitive instinct melted in a furnace of sheer emotion, and she was forced to wipe the tears from her face.

Pixie’s fellow judges Danny Jones from McFly and will.i.am and managed not to start weeping, though.

After being teased by host Emma Willis, Pixie said: “I don’t like to cry, I’m always trying to hold back the tears, but I couldn’t help it!”

The song was one of the show’s battle rounds where groups of the rival coach’s contestants join together to sing famous hits.

They each must try to out-sing each other to avoid being sent home – and the contestant which got through in this case was Ricardo.

Six separate battles were shown on the hour-long episode tonight, meaning six contestants are now going forward to the next round.

Ricardo will join his talented rivals in the semi-finals, but there are more battle rounds to get through first on tomorrow’s episode at 7.30pm on ITV.
