Phil Neville jumps the gun on Romelu Lukaku’s Manchester United move by posting a picture of him in Red Devils shirt on Instagram

PHIL NEVILLE jumped the gun in announcing Romelu Lukaku’s move from Everton to Manchester United with what looks to be a bit of help from Photoshop.

The former Everton and Old Trafford defender broke the news to his social media followers with a picture of Lukaku in a Red Devils shirt.

But neither Everton or Manchester United confirmed the deal and Lukaku’s former club Chelsea still hope to land the £75million man.

Neville thought he was being helpful when he captioned a doctored photo of Lukaku in a Man United kit : “Left one great club and joined another @rlukaku9 congratulations

But he had to admit he had been taken in by a prankster when fans pointed out a tell-tale sign of photo manipulation on Lukaku’s neck where there is a clash of skin tones.

Neville later replied: “Haahhahahahaahhahahahahahahaha a bit of fun guys relax.”

And he admitted to one user: Jumped the gun Andy.

United are still confident of completing a deal for Lukaku in time for him to join up with the squad on the US tour on Sunday, after he failed to turn-up for Everton’s pre-season camp.

Rumours are Lukaku will undergo a medical on Friday night at the UCLA campus in California and he could then seal the move to Manchester.

But Chelsea still reckon their former striker wants to join them but fear he is torn over financial responsibility to Raiola.

Old Trafford boss Mourinho will land the Belgian in a classic coup that blind-sided the Blues — with the striker agreeing a five-year deal worth £250,000 a week.

Chelsea believed as late as Thursday morning that Lukaku had set his heart on a return to Stamford Bridge.

The champions were waiting until they received an acceptable offer for want-away Diego Costa before moving for Lukaku.

But the Londoners were left stunned by Mourinho’s swoop.
