Peter Crouch wins Twitter by revealing how many seasons it will take him to beat Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record

PETER CROUCH has revealed how long he thinks it will take for him to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League record.

And no, don’t worry, he wasn’t being serious.

The Stoke striker was asked on Twitter: “How many seasons until you break Shearer’s record?”

And the former England frontman replied: “I’ve worked it out and retirement age in England is 65 is it, so I should come close.”

Crouch’s hilarious tweet quickly got more than 3,000 retweets and in excess of 11,000 likes.

And a number of followers were quick to point out that his state pension age will actually be 68.

So the 36-year-old former Liverpool frontman should have another three seasons left in him.

Newcastle and England legend Shearer scored 260 goals during his time at the Toon and Blackburn.

Crouch has recently been trying his hand as a radio presenter for Radio X with resident host Gordon Smart on holidays.

And he the 6ft 7ins frontman been linked with a move to Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
