Over 9,700 people die from TB annually in Ghana

35The Minister of Health, Alex Segbefia says despite the low cost for tuberculosis treatment over 75-thousand Ghanaians are afflicted with the disease with over nine-thousand-seven-hundred (9,700) people dying annually.

He explained that with one hundred Ghana Cedis, an infected person can be treated of TB in six months. He was speaking at the National Commemoration of the World TB Day at Ashaiman.

Mr. Segbefia said in a bid to reduce to the barest minimum TB infections in the country, Parliament in February, this year approved a loan of 13 million Euros to support the implementation of the National Response to fight TB.
