Olivier Giroud calls for change after Arsenal’s Liverpool humiliation and admits he was ashamed

OLIVIER GIROUD called for change after Arsenal’s Anfield drubbing — and admits he was ASHAMED.

In a SunSport poll, 80 per cent of Gunners fans say time is up for boss Arsene Wenger.

Striker Giroud, 30, has been linked with a move back to France this summer, with Lyon and Marseille keen to end his misery at the Emirates.

But despite being limited to cameo roles this season, including a 28-minute run-out in Sunday’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool, Giroud committed his future to Wenger’s under-fire team.

And speaking on French radio RMC, he believes change MUST now come at the club before they can compete for the title again.

He said: “I was ashamed when I left the pitch against Liverpool. We have to change something.

“I have decided to stay. It’s my choice, even if everyone does not understand it.

“I still want to win the Premier League here.”

The Gunners have not won the Prem crown since 2004 and last season finished fifth to miss out on the Champions League.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour, part of the Invincibles side, also criticised the club for their performance on Sunday — telling Wenger’s squad to play with passion or ship out.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Playing at Anfield, you’ve got to expect a bit of a battle.

“Some of the players… I wouldn’t want to be in the trenches with them in a war because they would go missing.

“You’ve got to have the pride to wear that shirt.

“For some of them, it was just too easy. You’ve got to have people who want to play for the club.

“If they don’t want to be there, then get them out.”
