NPP does not hate residents of Zongo communities – Akufo-Addo

Nana Akufo Addo1The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has no dislike for residents of Muslim-dominated areas known as Zongo in Ghana, the 2016 Presidential Candidate of NPP has said.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says contrary to claims that an NPP government will expunge Zongo communities from Akan-dominated areas; the party is coming with clear plans to give Zongo youth jobs.

“In fact, our plan is to implement Zongo Development fund if we are elected. I will not lie to you,” he said in Twi.

The NPP leader disclosed this to some Islamic clerics and youth during his “Arise for change” tour of the Kintampo North and South Constituencies in the Brong Ahafo Region.

With barely four months for the nation to head to the November polls, political activities in the country have been picking up with the two major political parties putting in place the necessary structures to ensure their victory.

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) last week outdoored its national campaign team tasked to ensure the second term bid of President John Dramani Mahama is delivered.

President Mahama has been touring the country for the past three months in what the government has termed “Accounting to the people” tour.

He is currently in the Upper East region where he is meeting traditional leaders and commissioning government projects.

The NPP has also been embarking on “Arise for change” tour to inject hope in Ghanaians and asking them to vote out the Mahama-government.

Touting his anti-corruption credentials, Nana Akufo-Addo said he does not seek the mandate of Ghanaians to steal public funds for his upkeep or that of his team.

He said the country needs a quick response to the growing number of unemployed youth in the country.

“Ghana is sitting on a time bomb because we have an employment crisis. When there are no jobs there could be problems for us. That is why we will build a factory in every district to create jobs,” he said.
