Multimedia TV Channels scrambled

Multimedia TV Channels scrambledAll three TV channels owned and operated by The Multimedia Group have been jammed.

Joy News, Adom TV and Joy Prime were first scrambled between the hours of 6 and 7pm Tuesday.

This followed the airing of the promo of Manasseh Azure Awuni’s investigation involving the president.

The three channels are the only ones on the MultiTV digibox which have been scrambled. The company’s radio signals on the box have also been jammed.

Other channels such as Fire TV, Dominion TV, Gold TV etc, are all working as of Wednesday morning.

But The Multimedia Group channels are still off air as of Wednesday morning.

In addition, the National Communications Authority (NCA) Tuesday evening conducted an unannounced visit to the studios of The Multimedia Group at 55 Faanofaa Street, Kokomlemle.

Officials of the Authority checked for signals, fire extinguishers, on-air lights, log-books for presenters and guests, for all the four radio stations in the building – Joy FM, Adom FM, Hitz FM and Asempa FM.

One of the longest-serving staff of the broadcaster said this is the first the regulator conducted such an impromptu check on the company, especially for signals in Multimedia’s 21-year history.

The only time Bureau of National Investigations staff came to the company’s premises was elections night in 2000.

He believes the unannounced checks and the scrambling of the TV and radio channels may have something to do with the announced broadcast of the findings of Manasseh’s investigations.
