A staggering 81 per cent of women admit to being baffled by the information overload with almost nine in ten wishing someone would just give it to them straight.

Topping the list of woes were how much water to drink a day, cutting out the amount of sugar and coffee from a diet and the best course of a daily skincare routine.

Women are also said to routinely concerned about the plucking of grey hairs for fear of more growing back.

Friends and doctors were dubbed the favourite go-to advice givers in times of crisis (51 per cent) although almost half of women admitted to turning to the internet first (49 per cent).

As little as 14 per cent of women scrolled through social media for the best advice.

In the poll of 1,500 a worrying 26 per cent of women admitted they were not happy in their own skin and two-thirds said they felt under pressure to look their best.
