Moment Thomas Cook baggage handler ‘hurls holidaymakers’ luggage onto hold of flight in front of stunned passengers’

FOOTAGE of Thomas Cook baggage handlers appearing to throw passengers’ luggage into a plane hold has been shared by an unhappy traveller.

Shannon Peppiatt posted the video filmed at Dalaman airport in Turkey after claiming she had switched airlines due to her bag being damaged.

She wrote: “I guess this explains why my suitcase was severely damaged! Your baggage handlers clearly have no respect.”

The video shows bags being flung down into the hold area of a plane, which is branded with Thomas Cook.

She said she works for EasyJet in the cabin crew and told the Mail Online: “I was flying to Dalaman with Thomas Cook from Gatwick and my case was smashed open so chose to fly with EasyJet coming home and saw this departing Dalaman airport.”

A spokesman for Thomas Cook said he had been unable to find any record of Miss Peppiat flying with them either to or from Dalaman.

But added: “Our customers’ luggage should never be treated like this and we are investigating with the baggage handling team at Dalaman.

“Our records do not show that Ms Peppiatt was due to fly home with us from Dalaman on that day and we would encourage her to get in touch with us directly.”

In July a worker at Edinburgh Airport was filmed seen carelessly hurling large suitcases onto the beltway.

Footage, posted onto Twitter, showed the worker picking up passenger luggage and throwing it instead of placing it safely onto the surface.

And footage obtained by The Sun from Luton airport showed baggage handlers lobbing delicate luggage carelessly into a truck, with some crashing on to a concrete runway below.

Earlier this month we explained the baggage allowances on most of the popular airlines.
