Manchester United set to make £100million bid for Everton’s Romelu Lukaku with Wayne Rooney going the other way

MANCHESTER UNITED will use Wayne Rooney’s Everton return to try and make a £100million move for Romelu Lukaku.

Roo will go back to Goodison Park 13 years after his £27million move to Old Traffford and it will be announced this week.

But now the Mirror are reporting that United want to use his return to help them hijack Lukaku from Chelsea.

Lukaku is desperate to move away from the Toffees as he wants to play Champions League football.

Antonio Conte was in pole position to resign the big Belgian from the club he was sold from in a £28m deal in 2014.

But the Blues are being stifled in their attempts to launch a bid for Lukaku as Diego Costa refuses to move.

Conte told the Spanish international he was no longer wanted at Stamford Bridge and to find a new club.

But Costa is refusing to make a big-money move to China and instead wants a return to Ateltico Madrid when their transfer ban is lifted in January.

And Rooney’s move back to Everton could pave the way for United to make a world-record move for Lukaku.

Roo said yes to the deal after a summer break when he discussed his future with wife Coleen and other family members.

There was no offer from the MLS and England’s 53-goal record scorer did not want to uproot his family to China.

Everton was always his preferred option.

Ronald Koeman has been spending the expected Lukaku cash, bringing in five players already this summer, including keeper Jordan Pickford, defender Michael Keane and midfielder Davy Klaassen.
