Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola joins Chelsea in race for £25m Real Madrid full-back Danilo

City have opened talks with the full-back’s representatives and discussing personal terms.

Antonio Conte’s Blues remain keen on the ex-Porto ace, but face a fight to seal his signature.

Guardiola was left fuming with former Barcelona star Alves after he snubbed them at the last minute to join the French giants.

He is desperate to land a right-back, and is a fan of Danilo after scouting him on a number of occasions last season.

Real Madrid are also interested in City defender Nicolas Otamendi, who could become part of any deal.

An Etihad source said: “After what happened with Alves, the club have had to move on to other targets.

“Danilo is one of the names in the frame. Pep is a fan of him, and he isn’t an expensive option.

“Madrid are keen on Otamendi, so are pushing their man towards the Etihad, despite Chelsea’s firm interest.

“Danilo likes idea of working under Pep, with plenty of game time being promised.”
