Ghana Body Building and Fitness Association (GBFA) will on Saturday, September 23, 2017, host at the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Hall the nation biggest bodybuilding championship, Man Ghana 2017, code-named ‘The Gladiators Battle’ in Accra.

The competition will also serve as the qualifier for the athletes for an upcoming International Federation of Bodybuilding (IFBB) Championship in 2018.

According to a press release issued and copied to the Daily Heritage in Accra on Friday   by the Public Relations Officer, Mr Wallace Worlanyo, the association has warned that any athlete who fails to participate in the event will not qualify to represent the nation in the 2018.

Mr Worlanyo said the IFBB rules on qualification to participate in international competition in Article 8.5 that states that, “Except where noted, an athlete will not participate in an international competition without the prior approval of his or her national federation.

“Athletes are prohibited from directly contacting the organizer for the purpose of obtaining participant status.

“Nomination of athlete for participation in the international competition must be done by his/her national federation, by sending the final entry form with the names of nominated athletes to the organising committee of that competition, IFBB head office and IFBB technical.”

According to him, GBFA will like to ask all bodybuilders in the country to take the participation in this year’s event with all seriousness.

He revealed that the September event will be the 10th anniversary of the event since its introduction in 2006, which Samuel Asante, aka Obour, won as the maiden winner.
