Locals stunned as Hollywood icon Nicolas Cage makes a surprise visit to a Somerset pet shop

HOLLYWOOD superstar Nicolas Cage caused a stir after an impromptu stop at a pet store – in Somerset.

The Con Air star visited Not Just Pets in Frome as he enjoyed a visit to the West Country and caused much excitement on Facebook from locals.

Sara Butler-Bartholomew posted: “Jamie missed him by ten minutes! I can’t believe it i love this man.”

Roxanne Pixiedust wrote: “Wow oh man what time was this! Might have just missed him!”

Tracey Rupp Rawlins wrote: “Awesome!” And Lisa Baker said: ” Wow he’s yummy love him.”

The A-List Hollywood star has owned a little cottage in cottage in the Somerset village of Baltonsborough, near Glastonbury, since 2006 which he adores.

Purchased in 2006, it’s all that remains of his British property portfolio that used to include a £4m townhouse in Bath and a castle in Midford Castle in Somerset, an 18th-century mock-gothic folly. Both were sold in 2009.

An Anglophile he spends the Christmas holidays in Somerset and has said in the past that he may even move to the Westcountry more permanently because of the good schools for his son.

In 2013 he said: “I usually spend the winter holidays here, Christmas and whatnot.

“But I think in a couple of years I’ll be spending more time here. I’m hopeful that I’ll be back here.

“In Somerset, I enjoy the peace of the oak trees and the rolling green hills and I like going into Glastonbury,” he explained.

“It’s like walking into a pack of Tarot cards.

“On one side of the street you have some of the oldest Christian churches, on the other these pagan shops.

“It’s like a microcosm of different belief systems and that’s interesting to me.”
