Liverpool and West Ham interested in signing Raul Jimenez as Benfica brace themselves for ‘significant offer’ from Premier League

BENFICA are preparing themselves for a “significant offer” for Raul Jimenez from the Premier League, according to reports in Portugal.

The Mexican forward is understood to be a target for Liverpool and West Ham and has been showing his quality at the Confederations Cup.

A Bola report he is up for sale and the club are bracing themselves for a large offer from the Premier League.

Jimenz is Benfica’s record signing — joining from Atletico Madrid for £18.9million in 2015.

The deal also made him the most-expensive Mexican footballer in history.

He was on course to sign for West Ham when he left the Rojiblancos, but allegedly overslept and missed his medicals.

Although, it was also suggested agent Jorge Mendes was not keen on a move to East London at that time.

The Hammers remain keen on the 26-year-old’s signature, despite the setback and could make their move this summer.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are also in the market for a centre-forward, and he fits the profile of player Jurgen Klopp is looking for.

Jimenez netted 11 goals in all competitions for Benfica last season and has 12 international goals.

He scored in Mexico’s 2-1 win over New Zealand at the Confederations Cup, before being sent off against Portugal in the third place play-off defeat.
