John Terry insists only promotion is acceptable for him with Aston Villa this season

JOHN TERRY will accept nothing less than  promotion with Aston Villa.

The former Chelsea skipper, 36, begins his Championship adventure in  Saturday’s teatime kick-off at home to Hull.

And JT insists  there is just one goal this term — returning to the top flight.

Terry said: “We have enough to go up for sure — nothing else is really acceptable for me.

“That is just my character, I want to win. You have either got it or you haven’t and the ambition is very clear for me.”

Villa boss Steve Bruce has  added bags of experience with Glenn Whelan and Ahmed Elmohamady joining the ranks.

But his plans have been rocked by news Jack Grealish may not play again this year following  his  horror injury against  Watford on Saturday.

Grealish, 21,  suffered bleeding to his kidney  in a freak  clash with ex-team-mate Tom Cleverley.

Bruce said: “He’s still in hospital and things aren’t great. The initial prognosis was he could be out for two to three months at least — but it could be much longer.

“Losing him is a blow. My system in pre-season was geared around Grealish.

“He came back flying from England Under-21 duty, which was good to see.”
