I’ve not resigned – BOST MD

The Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transport (BOST) Limited, Alfred Obeng has dismissed reports that he has resigned from office.

A letter circulating on social media purporting to have been signed by him said his exit is effective today Friday June 30, 2017.

It is my wish to volunterily step aside as investigations commence into the sale of off-spec fuel by BOST under me as Managing Director, as might have come to H.E’s attention. While I wish the Ministerial Investigation Committee well, may I express to your excellency my sincerest appreciation for the opportunity to serve my country within the past few difficult months,” the supposed letter from him read in part.

But the Media Relations Manager of BOST Nana Akua Adobea Obeng has urged the public to treat the said statement with the contempt that it deserves as it’s false.

“I can confirm with all certainty that the MD of BOST, Alfred Obeng Boateng is still at post, he has not resigned,” she stressed.

The Minority in Parliament early this week called for Alfred Obeng’s interdicted over the sale of contaminated fuel to Movenpiina Energy.

According to them, the transaction has resulted in a financial loss of Gh¢14.25 million to the State and the MD of BOST must pay the amount.

Five million litres of fuel product was declared off-spec after going through an in-house technical assessment and a laboratory test by the Tema Oil Refinery It comes after what BOST said was “human error” which led to the contamination of the product which has reportedly resulted in Ȼ7 million loss of revenue to the state.
