Invisible Forces not vigilante group – Freddie Blay

Acting National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described as false, claims that the Invisible Forces attacked a policeman at the Flagstaff House.

According to Freddie Blay, the Invisible Forces, which is the security arm of the party, is not a “vigilante group” but responsible men who hold executive positions in the NPP.

His comment follows an allegation by the National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Portuphy that the Invincible Forces went about harassing some police officers at the presidency.

He alleged that the NPP security men even stripped one of them in the process for allegedly being sympathetic to the NDC – an allegation yet to be corroborated by the police.

But Freddie Blay on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Monday said such false allegations are borne out of malice.

He indicated that, the Invisible Forces never went to the Flagstaff House to take over the security as is being alleged.

““I can assure you the Invisible Force never went to the Flagstaff House; some people make it look like they [Invincible Forces] are a violent group who are ready to do anything but name me one instance where they’ve been involved in unlawful activity, nothing of the sort,” he stressed.

Rather, the NPP acting chairman said the party security wing is just protecting state assets being ‘looted’ by aggrieved NDC members.

“I can say the Invisible Forces went to the passport office to help keep the peace there after it was taken over by goro boys” he noted.

Freddie Blay said for someone to say the NPP is endorsing lawlessness is “total exaggeration at best”
