I’m not aspiring to be President for bribes – Akufo-Addo

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo1Flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says he is not aspiring to be the president of Ghana to amass worth for himself or take a bribe.

According to him, every President in the Forth Republic has a legacy to show to the people of Ghana but not President John Mahama.

“I didn’t come into politics to steal the taxpayers’ money nor take a bribe. I came to contribute my quota towards the development of Ghana. I love Ghana, I want to see this country developed and succeed in all endeavor’. Nana Akufo-Addo noted.

Akufo-Addo indicated that President John Rawlings can be credited with the decentralization concept that gave birth to the District Assemblies while President John Kufour can be credited with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the School Feeding Programme, among others but the only legacy that can be attributed to President John Mahama is corruption, ‘dumsor’ and high cost of living.

“The present condition of the Ghanaian economy demands a leader who has a vision, foresight and has the ‘will do’ spirit but not a leader who don’t believe everything is possible under the sun.

“I come with the ‘will do’ spirit and I am committed to changing the fortunes of the Ghanaian economy. We have done it before and we will do it again. Please give me and the NPP a chance to put Ghana back to track” Akufo-Addo appealed.

He made the disclosure when he visited the Suhum, New Juaben South, Akuapem North and South Constituency respectively in the Eastern Region as part of a five days campaign tour to the region.

The NPP Presidential candidate asked Ghanaians to reject what he says is the deceit by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), propaganda and opposition to his vision to establish one factory in each district.

He said the ‘one district one factory’ will be a reality if he is given the mandate to lead Ghana.

At Jato in the Suhum Constituency, Nana Addo promised to give the community a processing plant for alcohol.

Jato is one of the major producers of local liquor popularly known as ‘Apeteshie’ or ‘Ogoglo’ but the distillers do not have a modern and mechanized technology to brew the alcohol.

Nana Akufo-Addo promised to provide the community with machines to produce the local brew in commercial quantity.
