I don’t regret supporting Nana Addo – Owuraku Amofa

Emmanuel Owuraku AmofahA former deputy communications minister Owuraku Amofa says he still walks with his head held high, despite supporting Nana Akufo-Addo during the 2008 elections.

A former Member of Parliament for the area from 1992 to 96, he lost his bid to go to parliament again when he was defeated by the current flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo.

During the 2008 presidential elections, Mr. Amofa threw his weight behind Nana Akufo –Addo having fallen out with the NDC. When Akufo-Addo lost, Mr. Amofa went into political hibernation.

Speaking in an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat, Wednesday, the current NDC parliamentary candidate for Abuakwa South constituency said although he embarked on a “political suicide”, he does not regret his decisions.

“I don’t regret supporting Nana Addo,” Mr. Amofa stressed.

“It gave me a chance to see the NPP. They are also a noble people, but there are nobler men within the NDC. At the time I helped Nana Addo I had been with EGLE.”

He added that he is solidly behind President John Mahama, who is seeking re-election on the ticket of the NDC come the November 7 elections, because he feels he will “be a better president” than his cousin Nana Addo.
