House of Commons speaker John Bercow nets £8,500 in freebies for Wimbledon – taking his total over £50,000

COMMONS Speaker John Bercow risked fresh controversy after accepting £8,500 in Wimbledon freebies, new figures show.

And the latest list of MPs’ outside earnings showed Ed Miliband netted just £2,500 to stand in for Jeremy Vine for a week — who is paid £700,000 as Radio 2 host.

The official Common’s Register of Members Interests also shows that Theresa May has had her much loved Russell and Bromley discount renewed for another year.

The Prime Minister is known for her love of fashion, and is spotted regularly wearing Russell & Bromley shoes.

Mr Bercow registered two tickets to the Royal Box at Wimbledon — worth an estimated £8,590.

The sports-mad former Tory MP has racked up more than £50,000 in VIP freebies since becoming the Commons boss in 2009.
