Hoffenheim fan spotted brushing his teeth during Liverpool loss at Anfield blames the ‘bad taste’ of British beer

HOFFENHEIM enjoyed a brief taste of Champions League football at Anfield – but their fans did not rate the English beer.

The Bundesliga side – in their first-ever European campaign – were beaten 4-2 by Liverpool in Wednesday’s play-off round second leg on Merseyside.

And the 6-3 aggregate loss appeared to have left a bad taste in the mouth as one supporter was seen BRUSHING HIS TEETH in the away end.

But, after returning home, the hygienic fan revealed that it was the “bad” English ales that left him needing to freshen up.

Speaking to Radio Regenbogen, the mechanic, known as Sven S, said: “I had to get rid of the bad beer taste.

“After a 25-hour drive with the bus from Germany to Liverpool I simply needed to freshen my mouth.

“We had some English beer and then directly went to the stands.”

When asked if his mother would be proud of him, he added: “Who would not be?

“Which mother has a son that shows the whole world that he brushes his teeth?”

Hoffenheim were grouped with Braga, Ludogorets and Basaksehir in Thursday’s Europa League draw.

And Sven will be hoping the brewers of Portugal, Bulgaria and Turkey have better to offer.
