Gov’t commiserates with victims of Tamale floods

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has constituted a high powered government delegation to visit the areas that were affected in the torrential rains that hit Tamale metropolis.

A release by government and signed by the Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid said the team to be dispatched later in the day will assess the whole situation in the affected areas and report to the President for remedial action to be taken.

“Government wishes to assure the people that everything would be done to alleviate their suffering” the statement added.

Meanwhile, government has expressed condolences to the families of two people reported to have lost their lives in the floods that engulfed the Tamale enclave.

A down pour that lasted for about an hour within the Tamale Metropolis on Tuesday, led to severe flooding and caused the death of a teacher.

Hajia Fati Bapuni lost her life when the floods swept her away in her vehicle while reports also said two school children are missing as a result of the flooding.

The floods also destroyed a number of property and the most hit areas includes Sakasaka, Gumani, Business Senior High School, Vitting, Gurugu and Fuo.
