GII finds NDC guilty of abuse of incumbency

NDCThe governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) is guilty of abuse of incumbency in the lead up to the December 7 polls, the Ghana Integrity Initiative has said.

Findings of a research conducted by the anti-graft organisation found the NDC has engaged in various forms of abuse as the party pushes to snatch a second term bid for President John Mahama in the general election.

The 10-page report said on July 17 during a rally organised in Jirapa to outdoor the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Dr Francis Dukurah, 10 new motor bikes were distributed to party officials. The candidate was also capture on camera sharing GHC2.00 notes to party supporters at the function.

“On Wednesday 27 July, 2016 the First Lady Mahama donated medical equipment and supplies to the Navrongo War Memorial Hospital as part of efforts to reduce mother to child transmission of HIV. The event took place at the forecourt of the hospital. In attendance was the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur, the MP Hon. Mark Woyongo, the Upper East Regional Minster Hon. Albert Abongo and his deputy, the MCE Dr Stanislaus Kadingni, the NDC National Women’s Organiser, Chiefs and Queen mothers as well as NDC party supporters.”

“The MP, Hon. Mark Woyongo, used the function to campaign by highlighting the achievements of the NDC government and the promises he will fulfill if he is re-elected into office,” the report said.
