GHANASS student killed by falling tree


A first year student of the Ghana Secondary School (GHANASS) in Koforidua has died after being seriously wounded by a falling tree.

The deceased, 16-year-old Edmund Amoako according to reports, was sitting under the tree when the unfortunate incident occurred Saturday.

Eastern Regional correspondent, Maxwell Kudekor reported that,  he pronounced dead on arrival by authorities of the St. Joseph hospital in Koforidua-Effiduase.

He indicated that, five male students also suffered varying degrees of injuries.

They have however been treated and discharged and police has begun investigations into the matter.

School authorizes have the students to stay out of wooded areas during heavy rains in an around the school.
