Ghana now a pool of blood under Akufo-Addo – NDC

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has launched a scathing attack on the Akufo Addo led-government accusing it of plunging a peaceful Ghana bequethed to it by ex President Mahama into a pool of blood only six months after assuming power.

The National Chairman of the party Kofi Portuphy while addressing a news conference on Thursday, 20 January, stated that for the first time in the history of the Fourth Republic, a governing party has incorporated militancy and violent extremism into its modus operandi.

He said the ruling NPP has assembled a group of “brigands and outright criminals” with “blood clotting” names such as Delta Force, Volta crocodiles among others to wage psychological war on the country’s security apparatus by attacking and openly killing policemen in uniform.

Kofi Portuphy added that Ghana has witnessed the height of lawlessness in the country’s history under the Akufo Addo presidency with armed robbers now having a field day embarking on their criminal activities in broad daylight as the government is undermines the police service.

“The master plan is to weaken the resolve of the police and security services” and let armed robbers operate freely, Mr Portuphy said.

“Did we vote for change for us to be killed? Is it not terrifying that our cherished police service is walking on its knees to the extent that people are gruesomely murdered and no less a person than the Inspector General of Police appears helpless about the situation.

“A peaceful Ghana in only six months has suddenly become a pool of blood and innocent blood is being shed on daily basis.”
