GFA received $150,000 from Russia friendly – Sports Ministry

Nii larteyThe Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ghana, Otto Plahar has corroborated the position held by the Ghana Fpootball Association that they received $150,000 from the recent friendly between the Black Stars of Ghana and Russia.

Contrary reports rife in a section of the media that the GFA received two tranches of $150,000 and $177,000 from the Russian Football Union, Otto Plahar said the cash component of the friendly was $177,000 but $27,000 deductible as VAT was taken by the Russian Government leaving $150,000 for Ghana, he told Kasapa Sports on Saturday.

He also debunked the assertion that an amount of $327,000 was quoted in the contract.

We have a copy of the contract with us(Ministry) and I think for the first time we should congratulate the GFA for making available the contract of the friendly to us. The contract sum is a total of $177,000 and $27,000 as VAT goes to the Russian Football Union with the remainder ($150,000) coming to the GFA.

Let me say emphatically that the figure coming to GFA is $150,000. I believe it is important that when issues of this nature crops up we take our time before putting anything in the domain.
