Gary Neville says Romelu Lukaku goes ‘missing’ in too many games as £75million Manchester United fee agreed

GARY NEVILLE has questioned Romelu Lukaku’s seemingly imminent arrival at Manchester United, saying the striker goes “missing” in too many games.

The Old Trafford legend also admitted he has never been the biggest fan of the Belgian – but that he “will score goals”.

United confirmed this morning that they have agreed a £75million fee for the Everton striker.

It came before reports in the US claimed Lukaku prompted police to visit his rented LA pad six times due to a noisy party.

World record signing Paul Pogba hailed Lukaku’s apparent arrival in his side, saying: “The wait is over!”

But not everyone is overjoyed with the news.

Red Devils icon Neville was quizzed by users on Twitter on what he thought of the move.

Asked how he rates Lukaku, Neville said: “He’s incredibly talented and I’ve seen him destroy defences but personally I’ve never been his biggest fan.

“However he will score goals.”

Carl Lake asked the eight-time Premier League winner why he is not the biggest admirer of Lukaku.

And Neville replied: “He went missing in too many matches I saw, but with a better team and players around him he has an improved chance to deliver in big matches.”

The icon’s assessment would appear to be line with what the statistics show.

Lukaku, narrowly beaten to last season’s Golden Boot by Harry Kane, is not a prolific goalscorer against the Premier League’s top six sides.

Neville’s brother Phil prematurely announced Lukaku’s arrival yesterday by posting what appeared to be a photoshopped image of the star in a United shirt.
