Galamsey Taskforce To Be Deployed Today

Government will today deploy the first batch of the anti-galamsey task force across the country.

The estimated four hundred-member contingent is made up of the Police, Army, Navy and Air force personnel.

They are expected to help salvage the polluted water sources, farmlands and forests caused by the activities of the illegal miners.

The month of July has recorded over 20 deaths related to illegal mining activities after two pits caved in.

Deputy Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah told Starr News Operation Halt Three, as it has been dubbed, is part of the President’s special initiative against galamsey.

The Akufo-Addo government is on a drive to put an end to the galamsey menace which has bedevilled the nation over the years.
