Floral tributes have been left for Mr Rogers, aged in his 20s, who died in hospital on Tuesday.

Cops have arrested five people aged between 19 and 43, in connection with the incident. All remain in custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Marie James, from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team, said: “While we’re in the early stages, this is a fast-paced inquiry and a number of people are currently being questioned.

“We believe the people involved in this incident are known to one another.

“The incident took place inside the supermarket where other customers were present at the time and given the rare nature of such incidents in this town, I fully understand how shocking this must be for the local community.”

She urged witnesses to contact police.

A police spokesman said a Home Office post-mortem examination will be held in due course.
