Four fishermen are in the grips of the Axim police in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western region for allegedly killing their friend at sea.

The body of 28-year-old Robert Ebo Quansah was found Tuesday at Agyeisah in Bonwre, after he failed to return home after a fishing expedition with five other fishermen.

But the five others who returned, according to Chief Fisherman of Axim, Nana Kofi Bentil claimed he drowned at sea.

However, he disclosed to Adom News’ Abla Aforkpah that, they ignored his advice to report the matter to the police.

One of the fishermen is still at large after he had a tipoff the police had arrested four of his colleagues. The suspects are currently in police custody assisting in investigations.

Uncle of the deceased, Martin Kwame Quansah expressed shock at the sudden demise of his nephew.

He indicated that, until his body was washed ashore, the family did not believe their kinsman married with two children had died.

Mr. Quansah suspect’s foul play thus called on the police to investigate the matter thoroughly to bring the culprits to book.

Meanwhile, Axim Police has confirmed the incident to Adom News noting that investigations are ongoing to unravel the mystery behind the death.
