Federico Bernardeschi labelled ‘s*** hunchback’ by furious Fiorentina fans in banner outside stadium as ‘new Roberto Baggio’ nears controversial move to Juventus

FURIOUS Fiorentina fans unfurled a banner labelling Federico Bernardeschi a “s*** hunchback” as his move to arch-rivals Juventus moves closer.

The Italy international is considered one of the best attacking talents in the country and is naturally a target for the Serie A champions.

And La Viola supporters are particularly unhappy with Bernardeschi’s antics as appears to be pushing through a move, having turned down a new deal.

Irate fans have reacted by hanging a banner outside the club’s Artemio Franchi stadium, which reads: “Who wouldn’t want to spit in your face…you s*** hunchback.”

Director Pantaleo Corvino confirmed the 23-year-old had refused to sign a new deal.

He said: “Bernardeschi doesn’t want to renew, despite Fiorentina having made a major offer.”

When asked if the Florentine club’s star player could perform the ultimate betrayal and join Juventus, Corvino insisted the club would do whatever they could to prevent that from happening.

He added: “I don’t know.

“We have the privilege of having one of the brightest stars of Italian football — we’ll see what we have to do.

Bernardeschi had been a target for Manchester United and Chelsea, but looks set to make the move to La Viola’s fiercest rivals.

The relationship between Fiorentina and Juventus has been particularly hostile since the Bianconeri signed Roberto Baggio from the former for a world-record £8million in 1990.

La Viola fans reacted by rioting in the streets of Florence.

And Bernardeschi has, ironically, been labelled “the new Baggio”, by the passionate Fiorentina faithful.

Should the versatile frontman leave, he would be the latest in a long line of top players the club have sold for “the right price”.

With fourth-place in Serie A being good enough for a Champions League place next season, Fiorentina fans had hoped their club would try to make the push.

However, they have also sold another of their top players in Borja Valero.

The Spaniard joined Inter Milan.
