Everton poised to take summer spending to £130m with £45m deal for Swansea star Gylfi Sigurdsson set to be sealed

SWANSEA are reportedly set to agree to a deal to send Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton.

The deal worth £45 million will push Ronald Koeman’s summer spending over £130 million.

Everton have offered $40 million up-front plus another £5 million in add-ons for the midfielder according to Express.

Swansea have so far been reluctant to budge from the $50 million price tag they stuck on the 27-year-old.

And Everton and Leicester who have also targeted Sigurdsson weren’t willing to to match that price in an offer.

The Toffees opened up the bidding at £30 million in what has been a lengthy saga to land the wantaway.

But amidst the Iceland international growing inpatients, he remained home from Swansea’s pre-season tour in the US with the hope of forcing a move.

It appears to have worked with the South Wales club set to agree to the compromised fee on their return.

Sigurdsson has spent the past three seasons at Liberty Stadium and has three more years left on his current contract after extending it last summer.

Last season he played in 40 matches for Swansea scoring 10 goals.

Meanwhile, Everton’s spending spree still doesn’t look to be over.

Koeman is still pursuing interest in Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud after he has been pushed out by the Emirates by the £52 million signing of Alexandre Lacazette.

If Giroud does decide to remain in London to compete with Lacazette the Toffees could target Leicester’s Islam Slimani instead.
