Everton 2 Sevilla 2: Ronald Koeman says Gylfi Sigurdsson’s move is ‘close’ after draw against La Liga side

RONALD KOEMAN has signed 11 players this summer and he is on the look out for at least three more – with a move for Swansea ace Gylfi Sigurdsson being “close”.

The Dutchman was speaking after the Toffees’ 2-2 draw against Sevilla which saw Sandro Ramirez net after 34 seconds and Kevin Mirallas equalise from the spot.

After the match, Koeman insisted there is still plenty of work to be done in this transfer window, as he eyes three more signings.

Koeman said: “Everybody knows we are looking for three more players – a left centre-back, a left full-back, a player who can play out of both positions, a winger and a striker and that’s the picture, what the best is for our team and we will see what we can do.

“We are close [on Sigurdsson], we have to wait. But still, the deal is not done.”

Koeman also responded to rumours linking Aaron Lennon with a move to Watford.

The Everton boss added: “The reason that he wasn’t in the squad is that he was not fit to play today. I don’t know about any interest for Aaron.”

His side got off to a perfect start against Sevilla after Ramirez rounded goalkeeper David Soria and put the ball in an empty net inside the first minute.

Ever Banega equalised for the visitors in the 58th minute  after Joaquin Correa set him up for a finish into the bottom corner.

The Argentine then stepped up to convert a penalty after Gareth Barry was adjudged to have fouled former Man City winger Nolito inside the box.

Replays showed the incident happened outside of the penalty area but Everton were then awarded a penalty after Nicolas Pareja brought down Mirallas.

The Belgian then dusted himself down to equalise for Everton in the 81st minute.
