Two persons have allegedly drowned in the New Juaben Municipality of the Eastern region.

The deceased, a 17 year old female final year student of Begoro SHS and a 20 year old unemployed man drowned separately at Trom and its nearby community, Two-Streams both suburbs in the Municipality.

Both bodies were retrieved Monday by the Adweso-District Police Command and deposited at the St Josephs Hospital.

The decomposing body of one of the deceased identified only by his Popular name, Mould, believed to be in his 20’s was discovered in a well located in a defunct Two-Streams Drinking Spot after strong stench emitting from the area raised suspicion of residents around.

It took the police team about 6 hours to retrieve the body because Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service were reportedly reluctant to join the rescue team which also included officials of NADMO, due to public verbal assaults in previous incidents which residents were enraged over the late arrival of the fire service personnel.

Also Residents of Trom similarly suspects foul play in the death of the student. According to residents, the municipality has not witnessed rainfall for the past five days to drown the deceased.

Information gathered indicates that, the deceased was a “Sakawa” boy who was behaving abnormal indicating he had mental challenge.
