Charlotte was very emotional as she discussed depression on the show

Opening up about feeling depressed, she told Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: “The badness was – I was so anxious – I was thinking of all these situations in my head. Is it going to come out in the press? Is it going to be leaked by someone? I didn’t want anyone to know. I didn’t know how to deal with it myself. I was worried it was going to come out in the press.”

She continued: “I was speaking to someone at the time – the psychiatrist and he really helped. He helped put everything into perspective.

“He helped us deal with everything I was getting anxious about. He was making me feel like it was really normal and talking it through so it didn’t feel like anything to worry about.

Charlotte, who looked very emotional throughout the interview, added: “I kept it bottled in. I would think ‘what will I do when this happens’, or ‘how will I deal with this situation?’ I didn’t feel like anyone have the answers. When you let it bottle up inside you have this mental torture.

“You just don’t know what is going on. Speaking to someone who is a professional, who knows how to deal with that – I can’t even describe that. It was like he had all the answers and all the answers were right and it made me feel so much better.”

The star has opened up about the experience in her diarised autobiography, Brand New Me – in which she also revealed she had known the psychiatrist  for some time after working with him on Geordie Shore and Celebrity Big Brother.

Discussing the book on the morning TV show, she said: “It is nice way of everyone knowing the truth. It was nice to get everything down on paper.”

She also revealed it was a way to raise awareness about ectopic pregnancies, saying:  “A lot of young girls have died because they have waited too long. Not many people know the signs or symptoms of ectopic pregnancies. I know I didn’t know anything about it.

“That is why I became a founder of the ectopic pregnancy trust – just to really get it out there so everyone knows what to look out for because it is such an awful thing to have to go through. “

And she went on to say how helpful boyfriend Stephen Bear is during tricky times.

“Whenever I am worried or stressed he makes me feel better, “ she said.

“He has got this side you would be shocked by. It has the loveliest soul. He is the one for me. I don’t want to be with anyone ever again.”
