Birmingham City are being linked with a move for Udinese midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu.

The 26-year-old Ghana international has played 160 times for the Italian club but his time in Italy now appears to be over.

Sky Sport Italia claim that Blues and Bursaspor are looking at signing him to put an end to his seven year stint at the club.

Here’s a lowdown.

Who is he?

Born in Ghana in 1990, Badu began his career with Berekum-based Berlin FC, then moving to Berekum Arsenal.

After he was included in the Ghana Premier League’s All-Star team, he had trials in England with Middlesbrough and Wolves before making the break into European football with Spanish side Recreativo de Huelva.

In January 2010, Badu made the switch to Udinese and hasn’t looked back, making quite an impression in Serie A.

Seven years on, he’s racked up well over 150 appearances and has been linked with a Premier League on more than one occasion.

Badu has 76 international caps for Ghana and 11 goals to his name.

Playing style

A no-nonsense midfielder, Badu is decisive in his actions and quick in his decisions.

Revered for his ability to break up play, 5ft 8in Badu excels at intercepting passes to regain possession and kickstart attacking moves.

His transfer situation

In the past a host of English clubs have been credited with an interest.

Liverpool were said to be tracking Badu when Brendan Rodgers was in charge and two years ago, the midfielder was close to signing for Stoke City.

But this summer, Baku looks to be on the verge of leaving Udinese in search of a new challenge.

Huddersfield Town have been linked as well as Blues and Turkish side Bursaspor.

What next?

Badu was pictured flying to the UK earlier today, adding further fuel to the speculation surrounding his future.

His travelling can be explained by the fact he is part of the Udinese squad who face Huddersfield in a friendly at the John Smith’s Stadium this evening, but whether he will return to Italy with his teammates is another matter.

He could look to seal a transfer while he is in the country.

Blues have already recruited Cheikh Ndoye to bolster their midfield options ahead of the new season and have plenty of competition for places in the middle of the park.
