Elon Musk x.com website purchase prompts questions

Tesla and Space X founder Elon Musk “launched” the site x.com

BILLIONAIRE Elon Musk recently made one of his most mysterious purchases to date — a website called “x.com”.

After much speculation about what the website might hold, the Tesla and Space X founder this morning “launched” the site, reports The Sun.

But to his fans’ disappointment, he appeared to be trolling the masses.

When you click through, you’re met with a white space and the letter “x”.

Musk, known for his sense of humour, made the announcement on Twitter.

“It’s a little verbose right now, that will be fixed tomorrow,” he wrote to his ten million followers.

The mysterious single letter domain is likely to have cost him a lot of dosh, suggesting he has big plans for it.

It’s not the first time the billionaire has owned the website.

He sold it along with a money transfer company which become Paypal in 1999.

Musk went on to create Tesla, a luxury electric car company and space exploration company Space X.

Musk has a seemingly endless list of ventures he could pop on x.com.

The entrepreneur helped bring a high-speed transportation system known as the Hyperloop to life and also proposed an electric jet.

He’s gushed that the goals of his companies revolve around his vision to change the world and humanity.

Now the billionaire inventor is working on batteries that could store solar energy in batteries — once a major challenge to furthering renewable energy.

He believes that a doomsday event might be on the cards, and has big plans for a “multi-planetary” society and believes manned missions to Mars will happen as soon as 2023.

Musk’s net worth is said to be around $A16 billion, as of January 2017.

He made his money through the sales of the companies he founded and co-founded.

His first company was Zip 2 which he created with his brother, Kimbal, in 1995 with $A35,000 from his dad.
